Phase 1: Start of the doctorate
The doctoral process begins with the search for a suitable supervisor. When your search was successful, apply for acceptance as a doctoral candidate in order to start the further process. For this purpose, you will use the forms listed below and the corresponding attachments and fill them out together with your supervisors, if applicable.

The application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate is reviewed by the doctoral committee of the faculty and must be submitted in full at least 14 days before the doctoral committee meeting.
Procedure
Please send the completed Application for acceptance as a doctoral candidate as well as the required documents, ensuring the correct naming of the files, exclusively by e-mail to informatik-promotion@rub.de. After you have received the notification of acceptance as a doctoral candidate, you must enroll as a doctoral candidate at the RUB Student Office. You can do the enrollment online. All necessary information can be found on the corresponding page of the Registrar’s Office. Afterwards, please submit your enrollment certificate to the Dean’s Office, save the file under Lastname_Immatrikulation.pdf and send it by e-mail to informatik-promotion@rub.de.
